Shingle Roof Replacement
Section, Alabama

Portfolio Entry

Job Details

Terrell Roofing recently completed a comprehensive roof shingle replacement in Section, Alabama, using Tamko Heritage Architectural Asphalt Shingles in the Weatheredwood color. The project began with the removal of all existing roofing materials, followed by the proper disposal of these materials in accordance with local regulations. After the removal, a thorough inspection of the roof sheathing was conducted, with necessary repairs made to ensure a solid foundation for the new roofing materials. High-quality synthetic underlayment was then installed over the entire roof surface, providing superior moisture protection. An ice and water shield was applied in all roof valleys to prevent water infiltration and ice dams.

New starter strip shingles were installed along the eaves and rakes to ensure a secure, wind-resistant edge. The Tamko Heritage Architectural Asphalt Shingles were carefully laid, following the manufacturer’s guidelines for optimal performance and aesthetics. All existing pipe boots and collars were replaced to ensure watertight seals around roof penetrations. A continuous ridge vent system was installed along the roof peak to enhance attic ventilation, regulating temperature and moisture levels. Matching hip and ridge shingles were added for a finished look and additional protection. Terrell Roofing also provided several free upgrades, including synthetic underlayment across the entire roof surface, a continuous ridge vent system, and up to two sheets of plywood for necessary roof deck repairs. This project, executed by Terrell Roofing’s experienced

In addition to the main roofing work, the project included specific repairs funded by an insurance claim. This phase involved the same comprehensive roofing process: removing old materials, inspecting and repairing roof sheathing, installing synthetic underlayment, repairing or replacing flashing, installing new pipe boot flanges, and completing the roofing installation, followed by clean-up.

Moreover, Terrell Roofing addressed significant structural damage to the soffit, fascia, and gutter systems caused by a fallen tree. This included demolishing the damaged roof section, inspecting and rebuilding up to eight rafters, resetting the top of the wall, replacing roof sheathing in the damaged area, and rebuilding the soffit box framing. The team also installed new 1×6 wooden fascia and new 3/8 CDX plywood soffit, repaired the brick pocket freeze board, and primed and painted 40 linear feet of soffit, fascia, and freeze board to restore the structure’s integrity and appearance.

Additionally, the project included drywall repairs inside the home, necessitated by the tree damage. The team removed and replaced the damaged drywall, scraped off all old ceiling texture, finished the seams of the replaced drywall, and primed and painted all new drywall surfaces.

Terrell Roofing’s comprehensive approach ensured that all aspects of the roofing and structural repairs were meticulously addressed, providing the homeowner with a safe, durable, and aesthetically pleasing result.
