Terrell Roofing recently completed an extensive Shingle Roof Replacement project in Athens, Alabama, showcasing their commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. The project began with the careful removal of the existing shingles, ensuring no damage to the underlying decking. This was followed by the installation of high-definition Architectural Shingles, chosen for their exceptional durability, weather resistance, and aesthetic appeal. These shingles not only enhance the roof’s appearance but also offer long-lasting protection against the elements.

The team then removed and replaced the Starter Strip shingles, which are crucial for securing the edges of the roof and preventing wind uplift. This step ensures that the new roof has a stable and secure foundation. Additionally, Ridge Cap shingles (hip/ridge) were removed and replaced to provide a finished look and added protection to the roof’s peaks and ridges, which are often the most vulnerable areas.

The existing exhaust ventilation system was upgraded to a continuous ridge vent, significantly improving attic ventilation. This enhancement helps regulate temperature and moisture levels within the attic, reducing the risk of mold growth and extending the overall lifespan of the roof. The old underlayment was replaced with high-quality synthetic underlayment, offering superior protection against moisture and adding an extra layer of defense against leaks.

All pipe boots and collars, which are essential for sealing roof penetrations, were replaced with new, durable materials to ensure watertight seals. This step is critical in preventing leaks around plumbing vents and other roof penetrations. Finally, an ice and water shield was meticulously applied in all valleys, the areas most prone to water infiltration. This shield prevents water from seeping under the shingles, especially during heavy rains or ice dam formations, providing an additional layer of protection.
