Huntsville Whole Roof Replacement

Terrell Roofing recently completed a full roof replacement project that involved several key tasks to ensure a durable and aesthetically pleasing result. The project began with the removal of the old shingles, which were replaced with high-definition Architectural TAMKO Heritage shingles in the color Weathered Wood. These shingles are known for their long-lasting durability and appealing design. The team also removed and replaced the Starter Strip shingles, which are crucial for securing the edges of the roof, as well as the Ridge Cap shingles, which provide a finished look and added protection to the roof’s peaks and ridges.

To improve the roof’s ventilation, the existing exhaust ventilation was removed, and a ridge vent system was installed. This upgrade helps regulate temperature and moisture levels in the attic, extending the lifespan of the roofing materials. The underlayment was also upgraded, with the existing material being replaced by synthetic felt, which offers superior protection against moisture penetration.

In addition to these major components, all pipe boots and collars were replaced to ensure watertight seals around roof penetrations, preventing potential leaks. An ice and water shield was applied in all valleys, adding an extra layer of protection against water infiltration and ice dams. The project included the installation of two sheets of plywood at no charge if needed.

The materials used for this project included Tamko Heritage Shingles, Tamko 3-tab Shingles, and Tamko Starter Shingles, along with Synthetic Felt, Atlas Ice & Water shield, and Omni Ridge Vent. The nails and fasteners used were 1″ Plastic Cap Nails and EZ Fit roofing coil nails, ensuring that all materials were securely installed. The project also involved replacing pipe boots and a 716 OSB, as well as completing a chimney repair using 4″x4″x10′ universal flashing.
